Understanding the perspectives of the five main regional powers (India, Iran, China, Russia and Saudi Arabia) with an interest in outcomes in Afghanistan and Pakistan is a critical element in relation to this volatile region.

The evolving focus of the project benefitted immensely from inputs by the members of the Core Group of Regional Experts (see below). They were unfailingly generous with their time, their expertise on the region, their intellectual inputs, and their willingness to be consulted throughout the project life.

The consultations held with a wide range of experts from the Extended Network enabled the project team to access insights from and on the region, which greatly informed project outputs. Again, without their involvement and their contributions, the project would have been much less rich in scope and depth.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those concerned. While many experts contributed to the findings presented, the final responsibility for the content is that of CIDOB alone.
