Dr. Soler i Lecha holds a PhD in International Relations from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is a political scientist and a part-time lecturer in International Relations at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals and at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

In 2010 he was also seconded to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an advisor in the General Directorate for the Mediterranean, the Maghreb and the Middle East and he has also advised in several occasions the Catalan government on Euro-Mediterranean affairs. His main areas of expertise are: Euro-Mediterranean relations, Turkey’s foreign and domestic politics, North African and Middle Eastern political dynamics, Spain’s Mediterranean policy and security cooperation in the Mediterranean. He has collaborated and published with the German Mashall Fund of the US and with some of Europe’s leading think-tanks. He is a member of the Observatory of European Foreign Policy and FIMAM (the Spanish network of researchers working on Arab and Muslim studies). Dr. Soler i Lecha has participated in several networks and transnational research projects such as EuroMeSCo, INEX and EU4SEAS. His works have also been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Mediterranean Politics and Insight Turkey and in policy-oriented journals such as Europe’s World and Política Exterior.
